My Half-Day Trip with My Dearest Friend in Baguio City June 2023

embarked on a trip to Baguio City with my friend Larz, filled with anticipation and excitement. We chose to travel by bus, but little did we know that heavy traffic awaited us upon our arrival. The journey seemed longer than expected, and our patience was put to the test.

However, our spirits remained high as we looked forward to exploring the famous Ukay2 stores in the city. The thrill of finding unique and affordable treasures kept our enthusiasm alive despite the delay.

When we finally reached our destination, hunger gnawed at our stomachs. Unfortunately, the dish we ordered took longer to arrive. The tantalizing aroma teased our senses, making us even more eager to dig in. Unable to resist any longer, we decided to start with the rice, hoping the dish would soon follow.

Though our meal wasn't served as promptly as we had hoped, we laughed and chatted, enjoying each other's company while savoring the simple pleasure of a warm plate of rice. Sometimes, the anticipation and hunger only make the eventual satisfaction even more delightful.

In the end, the long bus ride and the delayed meal couldn't dampen our spirits. We were determined to make the most of our time in Baguio City, and these small hiccups only added to the adventure.

Every hotel we approached was fully booked, leaving us feeling a tad disheartened. However, luck seemed to smile upon us when we stumbled upon Crown Legacy Hotel with an available room. Stepping inside, we noticed the dim lighting that gave the place a slightly gloomy ambiance. Despite this, we were pleasantly surprised by the comfort of our bed, which provided a much-needed respite. The hotel attendants greeted us warmly, and to our delight, they didn't charge us for checking out late in the afternoon. Although Crown Legacy had its quirks, the friendly staff and the free extension made our stay memorable in its own unique way.

Next day...

The first stop was the historic Diplomat Hotel. With its intriguing past and captivating architecture, we were eager to soak up its aura. As we walked through the ruins, we couldn't help but imagine the tales this place held from its time as a refuge during World War II. Standing atop the hill, we marveled at the panoramic views of Baguio City, a sight that etched itself into our memories forever.

Next on our list was stop was Burnham Park, a verdant oasis nestled in the heart of Baguio. We couldn't resist the allure of the sparkling lake, so we decided to hop on one of the swan boats and glide through the calm waters. As we leisurely paddled, laughter filled the air, and we relished in the simple joy of being surrounded by nature's beauty.

Eager for more adventure, we made our way to Wright Park, known for its exhilarating horseback riding experiences. The sight of majestic horses trotting about was awe-inspiring. After selecting our trusty steeds, we embarked on a thrilling ride, galloping through the park's scenic trails. The wind in our hair, the rhythmic sound of hooves, and the companionship of our noble horses made this experience truly magical.

Our journey continued to Mines View Park, a place where we could immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture of the Igorot people. We couldn't resist the opportunity to dress up in traditional Igorot costumes, feeling a sense of connection to the rich heritage of the Cordillera region. Bedecked in the colorful attire, we posed for pictures, cherishing the unique experience and the chance to pay homage to the indigenous culture.

As our stomachs began to growl, we knew it was time to savor the culinary delights Baguio City had to offer. Thank you, Sir Jej :) Our taste buds led us to Canto Restaurant, renowned for its mouthwatering backribs. The tantalizing aroma greeted us as we stepped inside, and we eagerly indulged in the succulent and flavorful ribs, savoring each tender bite. The cozy ambiance and delightful company made the meal all the more enjoyable, creating a perfect ending to our remarkable half-day trip.

Reflecting on our whirlwind adventure, we were filled with gratitude for the unforgettable moments shared with my dearest friend. From the serene swan boat ride to the historical exploration, the exhilarating horseback ride to the cultural immersion, and the gastronomic delight at Canto Restaurant, every experience was etched in our hearts. Baguio City had woven its magic around us, leaving us with cherished memories that would last a lifetime.
